Banner orientate your content
If your in a banner exchange, the more banners you serve up, the more your
banner is going to be served up. So maximizing your banner impressions is very
important. And there are certain ways you can achevie this in the design of
your site.
I've found some quite adictive games on the internet. One example of this is
Black Nova. Its
a space based game which you can play online through your browser, and almost
every page on the server I play on serves up a banner.
If you are playing for half an hour and clicking links to get to the different
pages in the game you will probably clock up around 200 banner impressions in
your half an hour. Times this by 100 players and you have 20,000 banner impressions
per day. People may play more or less than this but this isn't unrealistic.
And that is just from 100 regular players.
And so suddenly, they have 20,000 banner impressions for them to spend on premoting
their banners. When developing your website this is something you want to keep
in mind. Think about how you can do this. There is nothing worse than a site
which makes you reload the page when you are surfing a website but if done right
yuo can score a lot of impressions.
If you have a very large article then why not split into a few pages? This
means users will have to flick through several if they want to print it but
it means you don't have tiny scroll bars when scrolling the page and it will
double your hits for that article. Instead of having contact details on your
about us page, why not put the righting about yourself on the page and move
the contact us details to their own page?
The trick is to get it so visitors don't notice its happening. Because it shouldn't
be happening that much. Its hard to do well - as MSN should have realised by
now. Redirecting visitors to pages with the same content that the page you came
from has. Going from your homepage to a channel page with a more detailed description
of the article isn't.
